Portugal, coin of 50 Centavos 1938 Alpaca of the Portuguese Republic, or $50 Centavos 1938, belongs to the third series of 50 centavos coins of the Portuguese Republic, coins were minted in the Alpaca alloy (Cu 610 - Zn 200 - Ni 190) with dates from 1927 to 1968, created by Decree 13797 of June 21, 1927, their issuance ceased under the terms of Decree-Law 49167 of August 4, 1969, they were withdrawn from circulation under the terms of Decree-Law 267/81 of September 15, 1981. Total issue in the various dates minted between 1927 and 1968 was 130,000,000.

Nomenclatura Numismática is a short but important work on numismatic terminology, written by the Portuguese scholar José Leite de Vasconcelos. In this study, the author gathers and explains a range of technical terms related to the study of coins, aiming to clarify the specialized vocabulary used by researchers, collectors, and students of numismatics. The text addresses the designation of the different parts of a coin, elements of minting, and essential concepts used in their description and classification. Written with the scholarly rigor characteristic of its author, this work contributed to the standardization of numismatic terminology in Portuguese and remains a useful reference for those interested in the study of the monetary history of Portugal. This is the first facsimile edition, reproducing the text originally published in O Archeologo Português, vol. XXX, 1938, pp. 126–149, as it was issued by the Portuguese Numismatic Society in November 1958, thus preserving its historical and documentary value.

The 1957 50 cent coin was created by Decree 38 609 of January 21, 1952, to circulate in the Former Portuguese Colony of Mozambique, small modulus 50 cent coins were minted with the date 1953 and 1957, in Bronze metal alloy (Cu 950 - Zn 30 - Sn 20).
