1 Escudo Coins 1981–1986

The 1 Escudo coins issued between 1981 and 1986 correspond to the large‑module brass‑nickel system created under Decree 545/80 of November 17, 1980, covering all dates from 1981 to 1986. This type precedes the following system, in which the date 1986 appears again but already in the smaller module, clearly distinguishing it from this series. These coins remained in circulation until March 1, 2002, when they were withdrawn under Decree‑Law 117/2001 of April 17, 2001.
