Portugal 500$00 Banknote

The 500$00 escudos banknote issued by the Bank of Portugal corresponds to five hundred escudos and includes thirteen distinct issues, making it one of the longest and most diverse Portuguese denominations. Chapa 1 features João de Deus; Chapa 2 (1922) depicts Vasco da Gama; Chapa 4 shows the Duke of Palmela; Chapa 5 (1932) presents José da Silva Carvalho; Chapa 6 (1938) features Infante Henry; Chapa 7 (1942) presents Damião de Góis; Chapa 8 depicts King João IV; Chapa 9 (1958) features Francisco de Almeida; Chapa 10 presents King João II; Chapa 11 (1979) features Francisco Sanches; Chapa 12 presents Mouzinho da Silveira; and Chapa 13 features João de Barros. Several issues include multiple dates reflecting different print runs and signature combinations. All types include collectible variants of dates, signatures, prefixes, serial numbers and printing anomalies.
