Portugal 2$50 Banknote

The 2$50 escudos banknote issued by the Bank of Portugal corresponds to two escudos and fifty centavos and represents an important early denomination of the escudo system. Chapa 1 features Nuno Álvares Pereira on the obverse and an allegory of Geography on the reverse, with issues dated 10 July 1920 and 3 February 1922. Chapa 2 presents the effigy of Mouzinho da Silveira and the Portuguese Coat of Arms, with issues dated 17 November 1922 and 18 November 1925. Both types include collectible variants of dates, signatures, prefixes and serial numbers. Catalogued as Pick 119 and Pick 127, these notes were withdrawn from circulation on 24 June 1929 and remain key pieces of Portuguese paper‑money collecting.
