Portugal 50$00 Banknote
The 50$00 escudos banknote issued by the Bank of Portugal corresponds to fifty escudos and includes eleven distinct issues from 1920 to 1968, making it one of the most extensive and collectible Portuguese denominations. Chapa 1 (1920) features Passos Manuel; Chapa 2 (1922) depicts the Angel of Peace; Chapa 3 (1925) shows Cristóvão da Gama; Chapa 4 (1929) presents Borges Carneiro; Chapa 5 (1932) features the Duke of Saldanha; Chapa 6 (1938) and variant 6A (1941) depict Ramalho Ortigão; Chapa 7 (1953) and variant 7A (1960) show Fontes Pereira de Melo; Chapa 8 (1964) presents Queen Saint Isabel; and Chapa 9 (1968) features Infanta D. Maria. All issues include collectible variants of dates, signatures, prefixes, serial numbers and printing anomalies.
