Philippines Coins

Philippine coins reflect a monetary history shaped by three major periods: Spanish colonial rule, American administration and the independent Republic after 1946. During the Spanish era, Filipino pesos circulated with strong Iberian influence, including issues from the Manila Mint. Under U.S. administration, hybrid coins were produced featuring Filipino imagery with English inscriptions, now highly valued by collectors. After independence, the modern Philippine peso began to feature historical figures, national symbols and cultural elements of the archipelago. Philippine numismatics is appreciated for the diversity of its series and its historical importance within Southeast Asia.
