Commemorative 10 Escudos Coins (10$00)

The commemorative 10 Escudos coins form a small yet significant group within Portuguese commemorative coinage, consisting of only three issues produced during the twentieth century. The first was the 1928 silver coin dedicated to the Battle of Ourique, followed by the 1960 silver issue honouring Prince Henry the Navigator, and finally the 1987 brass nickel coin themed Council of Europe – Rural World, minted as part of the normal finish commemorative releases of the Portuguese Republic. Although limited in number, these three coins illustrate the aesthetic, technical and thematic evolution of Portuguese commemorative minting, reflecting distinct historical periods and artistic approaches of the Portuguese Mint. This category gathers all commemorative 10 Escudos coins issued in Escudos, allowing collectors to easily identify and acquire any of these emblematic pieces.
