Commemorative Coins of Portugal (Escudo Coins)
The commemorative coins of Portugal include the commemorative issues with normal finish minted by the Portuguese Mint from 1910 until the introduction of the Euro in 2002, struck in cupronickel and silver and dedicated to historical events, national figures and cultural themes. These coins differ from standard monetary systems through their specific designs and artistic features. Special editions in alternative metals or in PROOF, BNC and FDC finishes belong to the category “Special Issues of the INCM”, while this section presents only the commemorative issues with normal finish.
