Peru – Banknotes
Peruvian banknotes include issues of the Peruvian sol and, previously, the inti and the sol de oro, reflecting the country’s economic, political and cultural development from the 20th century to the present. The series feature historical figures, Inca civilization elements, cultural heritage, Andean landscapes, local fauna and flora and symbolic motifs representing Peruvian identity, accompanying monetary reforms, periods of instability and phases of financial modernization. Due to their design variety, variants, signatures and historical relevance within the Andean and South American region, Peruvian paper money is appreciated in international numismatics and sought after by world banknote collectors.
