The stamps of the former Portuguese colonies represent one of the most significant areas of Lusophone philately, covering classic and modern issues from territories once administered by Portugal. This category includes used and unused stamps, thematic series, regular issues, service stamps, varieties, proofs, printing errors and items of special interest from Angola, Mozambique, Guinea, Cape Verde, São Tomé and Príncipe, Portuguese India, Macau and Timor. Colonial issues reflect the postal history of the overseas territories, their administrative evolution and the political and cultural contexts of each region, as well as the graphic and thematic diversity of issues produced throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
