Lithuania Coins

The coins of Lithuania reflect the country’s economic and national revival following the restoration of independence in 1990, marked by the introduction of the litas in 1993 as the national currency. Issues from this period feature strong references to Lithuanian heritage, including the Vytis (the Lithuanian knight), cultural motifs and traditional Baltic symbolism. Minted in modern alloys such as steel, copper‑nickel and aluminium‑bronze, these coins represent the consolidation of Lithuania’s monetary system prior to the adoption of the euro. Lithuania’s euro coins (from 2015 onwards) are not listed in this category; they are available under “Euro Coins – European Countries”.
