1 Escudo Coins 1910–1926

The 1 Escudo coins issued between 1910 and 1926 comprise the first two monetary systems of this denomination, beginning with the large‑module silver issues, including the 5 October 1910 commemorative coin dated 1914 (no date on coin), created under Law 220 of June 30, 1914 and Decree 927 of October 3, 1914, together with the regular 1915 and 1916 issues established by the Decree with force of Law of May 22, 1911 and Law 220 of July 30, 1911, all withdrawn under Decree‑Law 19871 of June 9, 1931 and Decree 20392 of October 14, 1931. The second system consists of the bronze‑aluminium issues of 1924 and 1926, created by Decree 9719 of May 23, 1924 and likewise withdrawn under Decree 20392 of October 14, 1931, marking the transition from the silver escudo to the later metallic systems of the First Republic.
