The coins of the 4th Portuguese Dynasty, known as the Braganza Dynasty, cover the period from 1640 to 1910, during which fourteen monarchs ruled Portugal until the establishment of the Republic. This dynasty also governed the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves between 1815 and 1822. As the last sovereign royal house of Portugal, the House of Braganza produced a rich and diverse numismatic legacy that reflects more than two centuries of political, economic and artistic evolution.
