2 Centavos Coins
The 2 Centavos coins of the Portuguese Republic were issued in bronze and iron, reflecting the economic conditions of the post‑World War I period. The bronze issues date from 1918, 1920 and 1921, while the scarcer iron issue was struck only in 1918. Created under Law 679 of April 21, 1917 and withdrawn from circulation in 1927, these coins represent the second‑lowest denomination of the Republic and are valued today for their metal variations and historical significance within the early Republican series.
