2$50 Coins 1932–1960
The 2$50 Escudos coins dated 1932 to 1951 represent the first series of this denomination issued during the Republican coinage of Portugal, struck in silver and covering the years 1932, 1933, 1937, 1940, 1942 to 1948 and 1951. Within this series the key date is the 1937 issue, known for its lower availability among collectors. The series was created under Decree‑Law 19 871 of June 9th 1931 and was withdrawn from circulation on January 1st 1969 by Decree‑Law 48 722 of August 3rd 1968.
