1971 - 1974 10 Escudo Coins

Portugal, 10 Escudos coins (or 10$00 escudos), made of nickel coated with copper-nickel, minted in the years 1971, 1972, 1973, and 1974, are part of the second official issue of 10$00 escudos coins of the Portuguese Republic. Created under Decree-Law No. 49 167 of August 4, 1969, and updated by Decree-Law No. 525/70 of November 6, 1970, these coins, in all listed years, feature an incuse edge inscription, which may appear in either normal or inverted orientation. The inscription reads: "ESPERANÇA FRATERNIDADE CONFIANÇA "(Hope Fraternity Trust ) Its international reference in the numismatic market, according to the World Coins catalog by Krause Publications, is Portugal KM#600.
