Portugal, silver coin of 50 escudos 1971 of Banco de Portugal. Commemorative coin of the Portuguese Republic, issued to mark the 125th anniversary of the founding of the Bank of Portugal (1846–1971). The design was created by João Abel Manta, with sculptural execution by the artist Norte de Almeida. On this issue, the edge inscription reads: "CXXV ANIVERSÁRIO DO BANCO DE PORTUGAL", and there are known variants with the inscription in normal and inverted orientations.
