Portugal – 10 Escudos 1973 (Copper‑nickel clad nickel) This Portugal 10 escudos coin from 1973, composed of copper‑nickel clad nickel, belongs to the second official issue of 10 escudo coins of the Portuguese Republic. It was authorized by Decree‑Law No. 49 167 of August 4, 1969, and revised by Decree‑Law No. 525/70 of November 6, 1970. Coin issuance ceased under Decree‑Law No. 765/75/86 dated December 31, 1975, and coins were withdrawn from circulation on January 1, 1982, pursuant to Decree‑Law No. 267/81 of September 15, 1981. The designers and engravers were: Jaime Martins Barata (obverse), Marcelino Norte de Almeida (reverse), José Rosa (engraver). The coin is cataloged internationally as KM #600 in the Standard Catalog of World Coins (Krause)
