1 centavo coin dated 1921 from the Portuguese Republic, struck in bronze and part of the First Republic monetary series. Minted at the Lisbon Mint, this issue is notably scarce in higher grades, particularly when classified as “Extremely Fine”.

With a diameter of 19 mm and an approximate weight of 3 grams, the obverse displays the denomination “1 Centavo”, while the reverse features the national coat of arms over an armillary sphere. Its effective circulation was limited compared to the total mintage.

Only coins dated 1917, 1918, 1920, 1921 and 1922 were issued from this series, the 1 cent 1922 coin being the rarest coin in the Portuguese Republic since the establishment of the Republic in 1910.

Its issuance ceased under the terms of Decree-Law 9718 of 23 May 1924.
