Portugal, only known specimen coin, Tostão silver D. João IV 1640‑1656, minted with use hallmark of 2 Gold Cruzados dated 1642
Unlisted Portuguese variant of Group 74 of João IV, distinguished by clearly visible erased “1642” die traces around the Cross of Saint George, providing strong evidence of die reuse. The die morphology suggests repurposing one of the dies from the 1642 Portuguese Two Gold Cruzados, the only coins from Portugal with this configuration. A unique specimen, currently the only one known with these features.
