There are many variants not yet classified in the Alberto Gomes catalog; numerous combinations of legends and border types exist, some of considerable rarity, even though they are generally listed in catalogs in a generic way. In my view, this coin represents a combination of some rarity.

The 3 Vinténs silver coins of King Peter II (1683–1706), equivalent to 60 réis, usually feature royal crowns with beaded arches. This specimen corresponds to a rare and atypical variant, displaying a royal crown with four smooth arches “non‑beaded”, a characteristic not catalogued in Alberto Gomes. The obverse legend is PETRVS•II•D•G•PORT•ET•ALG•REX and the reverse legend •✤•IN•HOC•SIGNO•VINCES. This variant stands apart from the regular issues of the reign, in which the crown arches are beaded, making this type particularly appealing to collectors of numismatic varieties.
