João Prince Regent, rare variant, tall and narrow crown, 4-point diamond diadem, 8.5 mm rim, 2 pearls in the central arch, 9 pearls in the front inner arches, at the beginning of the outer arches 6 pearls on the left 4 pearls on the right, inside the same 4 pearls on the left and 5 pearls on the right, simple cross, in the caption ornate letter "S" with serif, on the reverse, cross of the Order of Christ ✠ ⭤ ⭥ 20 mm ends ◁ ⭥ 11 mm, quatrefoils "Florões" cantoning the Cross of the Order of Christ with open petals and small center, in the caption letter "S" ornate with serif, World Coins Portugal KM#331. Coin minted during the reign of D. João Prince Regent (1799-1816), born in Queluz on May 13, 1767, son of D. Maria I and D. Pedro III. Due to the Queen Mother's illness, Prince D. João took on the responsibility of government from 10 February 1792, assuming it definitively as Prince Regent from 15 July 1799, until his mother's death.
