India, 30 Centavos Coin, 1958, Bronze – State of India (Former Portuguese Colony). Coin issued by Decree No. 41680 of June 16, 1958, intended for circulation in the colony of Portuguese India. The State of India was founded in 1505, six years after the discovery of the sea route between Portugal and the Indian subcontinent. It served as an administrative reference point for a network of fortresses, trading posts, and overseas colonies. The first Viceroy was Dom Francisco de Almeida, who established his government in Cochin.
