Portugal, 1 Escudo 1931 Alpaca or 1$00 1931 in Alpaca of the Portuguese Republic, World Coins Portugal KM#578, belongs to the third series of one escudo coins of the Portuguese Republic, minted in alpaca alloy (Cu 610 – Zn 200 – Ni 190). The coins in this series were issued between the years 1927 and 1968, having been created by Decree No. 13,797 of June 21, 1927. Their issuance ceased under the terms of Decree-Law No. 49,167 of August 4, 1969, and they were withdrawn from circulation under Decree-Law No. 267/81 of September 15, 1981. The total mintage for the various dates between 1927 and 1968 was 45,000,000 specimens.
