Manuel II (1908-1910), known as "The Exiled", was the thirty-fifth and last King of Portugal, born in 1889 and reigned over Portugal from 1908 until 1910, he died in 1932, his wife was Augusta Vitória Guilhermina Antónia Matilde. During his reign he only minted a single coin in bronze and all the rest in silver.

The 500 Reis 1893 coin was created by the Decree of May 7, 1891, coins were minted in the metallic silver alloy (Ag 916.6), with dates from 1891 to 1908. King D. Carlos I (1889-1908) , known as "O Desventurado", was the thirty-fourth King of Portugal, born in 1863 and reigned over Portugal from 1889 until his death in 1908, his wife was Dona Maria Amélia Luísa Helena de Orleães.
