Created under Decree‑Law no. 32 648 of 29 January 1943, this bronze series used the alloy Cu 950‰, Sn 30‰ and Zn 20‰, maintaining a uniform standard throughout all years of production. The series was later discontinued by Decree‑Law no. 49 167 of 4 August 1969. Across all dates minted between 1942 and 1969, a total of 13,084,750 pieces were produced, making this type one of the most representative circulating issues of the 20th‑century republican period.
