X Centavos Coins 1942–1969

The X Centavos coins issued by the Portuguese Republic between 1942 and 1969 correspond to the bronze system introduced during the monetary adjustments of the early 1940s. Created under Decree‑Law 32648 of January 29, 1943, these coins adopted a stable bronze alloy and a consistent design that remained unchanged throughout nearly three decades. The series includes every year from 1942 to 1969, reflecting a long period of technical continuity in Portuguese circulating coinage. Their circulation ended on January 1, 1982, when they were officially withdrawn under Decree‑Law 267/81 of September 15.
