Created by Decree-Law no. 45,129 of June 12, 1963, its issuance ceased under the terms of Decree-Law no. 293/86 of September 12, 1986, and it was withdrawn from circulation on January 1, 1989, by Decree-Law no. 427/88 of November 19, 1988. The designers and engravers of this coin were Jaime Martins Barata (obverse), Norte de Almeida (reverse), and José Rosa (engraver).
